PATH OF SERVICE…
I’m a visual artist and writer, I photograph, art direct and design, and write about food, travel and lifestyle.
To be myself, to share goodness, support progress in society and discover beauty everyday.
WHAT LED YOU TO HERE…
My mother applied to an art school in my name, she sent them my drawings. I got accepted, at the time I was partying and being wild a lot and had no sense of my future, so you could say my mum set me on a path. Art school felt like coming home. From there I became a designer and worked with fashion magazines, but food and health was much more my passion so now I spent the last 10 years working with food and health inspiration.
A TYPICAL DAY…
I always start with coffee, outside if the weather is good, with my partner, we both have our studios at home. Then I work with my own or client projects for the rest of the day. we often go out for lunch and I take 1 or 2 hours yoga and walking or running. We have dinner with the family.
WHAT DOES BEING A WOMAN MEAN TO YOU?
I use my female energy in my creative work, I can see it myself but I don’t emphasize it, it’s just there. Being a woman also means being limited by stereotypes and old fashioned ideas unfortunally. But it’s a positive development in the world. The younger generations of women are more free and confident then the older. Women support each other more now. There’s so many amazing women out there.
EXPRESSION OF CONSCIOUSNESS & SUSTAINABILITY?
I’ve made a choice to share only vegetarian, often vegan recipes which are better for us and the environment. I sincerly promote buying fair trade and organic food and products. All choices make a difference in the end.
WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?
The love and friendships in my life. My beautiful daughter, stepson and my partner.
IDEA OF HAPPINESS?
Happiness is elusive, try to catch it and it escapes. I believe more in the process of now. That working on better future, is a happier state of mind, more then then that brief moment of satisfaction when you reach a goal. Having meaning in and a sense of purpose in the veryday life is happiness for me.
PHILOSOPHY ON FOOD & WELLNESS?
Eat with variety and mostly vegetables. Create good habits but don’t obsess. Enjoy what you eat. Be intuitive, keep a good balance with exercise, rest, hydration and nourishing food. Keep it fun.
HOW DO YOU CONNECT NATURALISM & THE MODERN WORLD?
In the Netherlands where I live, the worship of nature is strong because of the dense population and lack of common nature areas. But in my native Sweden we have an abundance of nature so I’m more balanced about it. Though I think natural food and environments are healthier and have a purer quality. Being closer to the elements makes us happier and more alive. Though I’m not backwards striving. I embrace technology and modern inventions with the hope and trust that it’s used to improve our lives and it’s in balance with the earth. Internet and social media can create crap culture and spread negative ideas, but it also connect and evolves good people and ideas, I keep thinking of a something Deepak Chopra said about how we can see social media and the digital connections as a shared consciousness where we can evolve. Perhaps the age of social media is really the age of Aquarius.
WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I’m very easily inspired, I see beauty everywhere. Real life is full of of it, from random events like my cat stretching in the sun to seeing other peoples going about their business. I’m so impressed and inspired by creative accounts on Instagram, It’s a place for free creative expressions. A lot of people dislike politicians, but I see a lot of good work being done by individuals efforts being made to improve lives for everyone. I’m also terribly inspired by artists, musicians and writers.
Admit when your wrong.
You can not fix someone else.
Advice for women?
Not everyone will see your potential. Don’t let other people define you. Be yourself. believe in yourselves. Do what inspires you. Be tolerant. The world is perfectly imperfect.
